From OP to Flocks
06 May 2010
It is starting to be spring now. The rainy season is over. The grass is green and it is growing quickly.
I was holding OP on the Syrian side to assist a fellow military observer that had to go home for compassionate reasons. The temperatures are rising and that means the shepherds are out in force - making sure their flocks are eating as much good grass as possible. Everyone finally gets to see my ugly mug - Bez on OP 57 - pockets full of stuff.

We were driving down a narrow gravel road when we came upon these people. The animals looked quite healthy and well fed. It becomes a bit more of a struggle to find good grass once the dry season sets in, so these few "grass rich" months are vital to get the animals condition up before the poor quality grass starts to happen.
Had a friendly but short visit with the shepherds.
